Decide what the stand must do
A stand for a regular storage position and a stand carried to events may be different purchases. Stubbs' range includes display stands, a folding saddle horse, travel supports and trolleys. The category names describe different jobs; compare individual specifications before choosing.
For cleaning, Sommer lists a work trestle among its equipment and advises dry, secure saddle storage. The practical question is whether you can reach the parts you need to clean while the saddle remains supported.
Make a comparison sheet
- Record the full footprint, including feet that extend beyond the top.
- Check the open dimensions as well as the packed dimensions.
- Ask how the folding or detachable parts are secured during use.
- Confirm the intended saddle type and any stated load limit.
- Check whether the floor at the intended position is level and clear.
For a shared room, mark the proposed footprint with removable tape and walk around it carrying your normal kit. Include doors, cupboard access and the route to the sink. A layout that relies on moving the stand every time someone opens a door needs reconsideration.
Cleaning position or permanent home?
If the stand will regularly be moved outdoors, decide where it returns after cleaning and where it dries. If it will stay inside, leave a separate place for buckets and cleaning supplies. Avoid storing loose equipment among the feet where it can catch a boot.
Check the stand after assembly against its own instructions. Stop using it if a connection loosens or the support becomes unstable; ask the supplier about repair or replacement parts.
Compare wall racks if floor space is the limiting factor.
